The zombies have made their way into town, lumbering along an unseen path toward their targets. Townsfolk take to the streets and attempt to flee, but soon find they have nowhere to go.
I hated this song when I first wrote it. I had jotted down a few of the riffs in this one at random, thinking it would just be a receptacle for ideas until I could put them somewhere. In the Gallop Rhythm thread on TheShizz, GuyInRubberSuit pointed out the “reverse gallop” that Slayer uses in Raining Blood. I listened to it again just then and totally heard it, having played the song myself for years but never really paying attention to the fact. I thought that was pretty cool so I took the concept and jammed out the verse riff, finding it acceptable. I decided the receptacle could have potential as a song if I added some unity to it, so I went with the Slayer vibe to tie it all together and unintentionally pretty much ripped off Seasons in the Abyss in the intro. It wound up working for me, though, and I was able to keep the approach I wanted, segueing into building the song like a group of lumbering zombies coming across a pack of humans and proceeding to devour. I also have to credit some of the technical aspects of this song to Dennis Mott, aka captain tortilla. Studying his patterns in the Chip Off the Shizz Block vol. 2 Chain Chip we both took part in I was able to understand how to use different speed settings in ModPlug, which I took advantage of in this song. The vocals for this track had to be recorded three times, as the first two sets mysteriously disappeared.
lyrics
The maw from which these fiends were born
Has left the earth asunder torn
Approach en masse half decomposed
A symphony of sickly moans
They seek to eat your organs raw
Intestines, liver, heart they gnaw
Each bit of you a morsel fine
Their favorite feast on which to dine
Their appetite now that they've died
Will not ever be satisfied
They'll come forever locked in death
To steal and taste your dying breath
Here they come
Where can we go? Can't hide we have to
Run, we run
But at each step every turn
There they are
Down each street and alleyway we learn that
No, nowhere
Is safe. What can we do where do we
Go? Just go!
Don't succumb to the despair!
Oh God!
They're on us now, they're everywhere
They sprang from our most twisted dreams
These fearless undead machines
On the march to find us out
Of this there is no doubt we have to
Run, we run
But at each step every turn
There they are
Down each street and alleyway we learn that
No, nowhere
Is safe. What can we do where do we
Go? Just go! Don't stop!
The peal of our death knell
All for what it's worth
When there's no more room in Hell
The dead will walk the Earth

I start this song every time I am doing Super sets in my home gym. I end up with a pool of sweat and my a melted face from the bad ass riffs that rip through my home from this Master Guitarist.
